Meet Walter Townsend-Write-in Candidate

Walter's is the first of three episodes I will be putting out today. Coming next is Roger Whitley.

Welcome to the James Exchange. I am your host, Nancy Gill. It is Sunday, November 3rd and the Scottsville election for mayor and three councilers is a couple of days away. Today, you will hear from Walter Townsend, Roger Whitley, and Molly Angevine. David Becker and I were unable to schedule a conversation. I prerecord our conversations. There is a transcript you can follow, read, or scan with each podcast.

Walter Townsend

Walter Townsend with man’s best friend, Bogey.

Townsend is a native of Scottsville, and he remembers many things about the town growing up here. His main interest in running as a write-in candidate for Town Council, is bringing back “Mom and Pop” businesses that thrived here while he was growing up. He is not opposed to growth. And, as other candidates I have spoken to, he envisions a more controlled, common sense development which includes studying the existing infrasture as well as that which is needed.

Townsend would like to see more restaurants downtown, and remembers the clothing and furniture stores that once graced Valley and East Main Streets.

He and Tiffany, his wife, raised their four children, Peyton, Kelsi, Devin, and Cameron, in Scottsville. In fact, he lives in his Grandfather’s house across the street from where his Mother lives.

Townsend is asking for your support with a vote on November 5th. He wants to be a voice for the people, and knows that the Mayor and Council need to be held accountable.

The Ballot

Next up for write-in candidates is Roger Whitley. Don’t forget to vote on November 5th.

And, as always, if you have a song, a story, an event, or an issue you would like to discuss, perhaps it is time for a conversation.
