Oh, That Packet Boat

In August Garrett Nolt, Liz Knotts, and I went before Town Council on the then condition of the packet boat at Canal Basin Square.
The original version of the packet boat.
Newly restored. The wood has been completely restored and painted.

Garrett spoke to Town Council at their August 15, 2022 public meeting. He was joined by Liz Knotts and myself. Just four years earlier we had a ribbon cutting for the recently finished packet boat. As Vice Mayor from 2016-18, it was Liz’s goal to finish the boat which had been sitting at Canal Basin Square—hull only—for about ten years. It took less than half of that time for the boat to disintegrate into a public nuisance and safety hazard.

I apologize for the lack of clarity in this recording.

Garrett at Canal Basin Square 12.30.2022

Yesterday, Garrett and his Dad, Randy, met with me at Canal Basin Square to do a follow-up podcast on the condition of the packet boat.

Enjoy, Garrett’s take on this and a few other topics as well.

As always, if you have a story, a song, an event, an issue…let’s have a conversation.
