Tire Plant: Industrial or Residential?

In this episode I spoke with Charlie Armstrong with Southern Development.

On Monday, December 12, Scottsville Town Council will hold a public hearing on Echelon Resource’s special use permit for their Scottsville Lofts project. The meeting will be held in Council chambers on the second floor of Victory Hall (401 Valley Street) beginning at 7:00 pm. This is the Council’s regularly scheduled work session.

There is much chatter regarding this project throughout the greater Scottsville area. At the James Exchange, we make it a practice to go to the source to ensure accurate information is being reported. In this episode, listen to Charlie Armstrong who is Vice President of Southern Development. Next week we will be talking to Edwin Gaskin of Echelon Resources.

The James Exchange has reached out to Town Councilors Bill Hyson and Dan Gritsko to discuss this issue. Mr. Hyson is a former chair of the Scottsville Planning Commission. Mr. Gritsko currently serves on the Planning Commission and is Vice Mayor.

Town Council will vote whether or not to approve 205 apartments with some mixed use. In speaking with Mr. Armstrong, Southern Development has no plans to sell the property and will keep it industrial should the apartment project fail. Their plan is to lease to contractors.
