Topsy Turvey No Longer?

No such luck! Scottsville's governing body has filled staff positions, but now there is a vacancy on the Planning Commission.

Welcome to the James Exchange, I am Nancy Gill your host. In today’s episode, I had a conversation with the newly hired Scottsville town clerk, Melodye Courter.

A few tidbits:
In Tuesday’s Scottsville special election, Aileen Morse garnered 115 votes. A little side note, we haven’t had participation on this level since 2008. I will surmise that the uptick is from the General Assembly moving all Virginia elections to November. Scottsville residents have their own ballot.

Alex Bessette failed to get his name on the ballot, so there were 90+ write-in votes. According to the Albemarle County election office, they have to be counted by Tuesday. When I know if Councilor Bessette prevailed in keeping his seat, I will let you know.

On Saturday, November 18 starting at 10:00 am, HEARR is hosting their Fourth Annual Take-a-Hike day. We kick off on the SCAN Land. And, on Sunday, November 19 at 2:00, we continue the hiking at Simpson Park in Esmont. Come on out and join us! HEARR collaborates with several organizations to work toward “Healthier and Happier Communities”

For our Buckingham friends, HEARR is again partnering with the Virginia Cooperative Extension Service on well-water testing. If you live in Buckingham, stop by Ali’s Place on Saturday, November 11 between 9:00 am and noon to pick up a test kit. Normally the price is $65.00, but HEARR has 30 kits with a fee of $10.00 each.

With this said, I hope you enjoy meeting Melodye!

And, as always, if you have a song, a story, an event, or an issue you would like to discuss, perhaps it is time for a conversation!
