Welcome to the James Exchange. I am your host, Nancy Gill and in this episode, Laura Mellusi and I got together to discuss questions for the candidates—both Mayor and Council. This is the first part of covering the Scottsville election—mainly coming up with questions and the reasons why. They will be listed with the candidate episode. So, listen in and feel free to come up with your own.
This year’s election has open spots for the Mayor and three Councilors. Unfortunately, only one person is on the ballot for Council which means there will be two positions filled by write-in candidates. I am in the process of scheduling and interviewing those on the ballot and those that I know are write-in candidates. I do prefer giving candidates questions so they will be prepared. I do reserve the privilege of following up on their answers.
The candidates for Mayor are Ron Smith who is currently serving in this capacity and Eddie Payne who is the Vice Mayor. For Council, Alex Bessette is the only candidate on the ballot. Write-in candidates for Council are Walter Townsend, David Becker, and Roger Whitley. To date, I have confirmed both Walter and Roger. All candidates are invited to come on the James Exchange. If I miss someone, please contact me.
