The James Exchange: Friday Forward 7.2

The James River Exchange

Welcome to the second episode of The James Exchange, Friday Forward. I am your host, Nancy Gill. In today’s offering, we hear from Phyliss Johnson and Tim Karr speaking to the 2021 Scottsville Parade and the Grand Marshall. This year the parade honors the Gene N. Johnson Ballpark. As a reminder, Scottsville will celebrate the Fourth on Saturday, July 3rd this year. The parade kicks off at 9:00 at the intersection of Valley Street (Rt. 20) and James River Road (Rt. 726).

The Fourth of July in Scottsville is the Fire Department’s day. They have been instrumental in planning, organizing, and implementing the parade since the mid-1980s when the VFW handed it off to them. This year marks the 107th  parade. Another event the Fire Department is known for is the fireworks display. Unfortunately, we will not have them this year. But please come to Dorrier Park for the Independence Weekend Outdoor Concert. Music starts at 5:30 with Mojo Pie and the Will Overman Band at 7:00.

Now for a little intel on next year’s fireworks, I am excited to tell you, they will be back!
